Gerald Knight practices in the areas of real estate law, land use law, and administrative and governmental law. He represents land developers, builders and other business clients in connection with real estate transactions, land use matters, real estate tax matters and administrative law matters at the state, regional, and local levels. Mr. Knight has represented land developers in connection with obtaining comprehensive plan amendments, rezonings, variances, conditional use approvals, special exceptions, subdivision plat approvals and site plan approvals. Mr. Knight also acts as special counsel to local governmental agencies, including community development districts and community redevelopment agencies.
He is a former Assistant Attorney General of Florida; Assistant General Counsel of Broward County; and Assistant City Attorney of the City of Fort Lauderdale. He was formerly a partner at Gustafson, Stephens, Ferris, Forman & Knight, P.A., and at Holland & Knight LLP.
Mr. Knight is a member of The Florida Bar, Local Government Law and Environmental and Land Use Law Sections; the Broward County Bar Association; Bars of the United States Supreme Court and United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. Mr. Knight is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Order of the Coif, and has received the highest rating assigned by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory (AV PreeminentR).
Mr. Knight earned his B.A., with honors, and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Florida. He also earned his LL.M in real estate law from the University of Miami.
