Liza Smoker focuses her practice on local government, land use, and real property. She currently serves as district counsel for numerous community development districts in Florida, providing general counsel for matters concerning these special district local government entities.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Smoker litigated hundreds of hearings and several bench and jury trials. She is experienced in high-dollar real estate transactions and title insurance matters. She represented national banking institutions in various commercial loan transactions.
Ms. Smoker also worked in the Executive Office of the Governor of Florida, prosecuted crimes as a CLI in the Leon County State Attorney’s Office, and served as a White House Legal Intern in the Office of the Counsel to the President of the United States.
Ms. Smoker served as an Adjunct Professor of Law, president of the Broward County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section, and spearheaded over 100 legal, charitable, and educational events. She is a frequent presenter and speaker, recipient of numerous community awards, and recognized nationally as a Presidential Leadership Scholar.
