One of the original members of the firm, Clark Cochran joined Steve Billing when they opened their doors in September 1977.
Mr. Cochran has been recognized by his peers as a Top Lawyer in the areas of trial practice and municipal law in the South Florida Legal Guide, which selected him as a Distinguished Attorney and the subject of a profile in its 2013 edition. He has received an AV Preeminent rating which is the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He was one of the original members of a small group of attorneys selected as among the very best trial lawyers invited to be a charter member of the Broward County Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mr. Cochran also received recognition by Legal Leaders as one of South Florida's Top-Rated Lawyers in personal injury litigation.
Since 1977, he has defended municipalities in South Florida along with insurance companies and their insureds, against everything from automobile accidents to slip and falls to civil rights claims, as well as construction litigation and zoning. Mr. Cochran has defended premises and products liability cases along with life insurance claims. He has often been called upon by insurance companies to provide opinions on coverage issues and to represent them in litigating coverage disputes and bad faith claims.
One of the few attorneys to combine substantial trial experience with a successful appellate practice, Mr. Cochran has been involved in appellate decisions that have created law in cases involving sovereign immunity, insurance coverage issues and trial practice. His experience in both trying cases and arguing complex legal issues has resulted in a significant number of summary judgments, substantially reducing the cost of litigation for his clients.
